A Good Time to Say Bye

A Good Time to say Bye

Philly Police beat up queers

MOVE buys house in West Philip

City Councilman goes to jail

If we didn’t date these events

how would we know when they happened

it could be any Philadelphia year

any Philly day

Hews means new, doesn’t it

all of the above

happened in 1981, 1971

no new news in Philly

on a day in 1955

headlines were

Rizzo exonerated for police Brutality

Longstretch announces candidacy

unknown child found murdered

could of been

1965, 1975, 1985

only Rizzo won’t run again

though he’ll certainly get votes this year

he’ll get the Dead vote

old Democrats never die, they just vote that way

Tommi we will miss you

another voice gone, another face leaving

the parade will be quieter without you

the silences will be longer

some of the rage in outrage,

some of the out in outrageous

will be gone

and one less person to call when the city makes me scream why why why!

one less Poet

on the other hand, Tommi in drag is to Drag

as military music is to music not

still, we’ll miss you,

miss the words and the feelings-
