Save me the Reggae

Save me the Reggae (Save me the Waltz-Zelda)

The dogs are having their morning coffee

breaking the ring of sleep

This is not a poem about you,

anyhow

politically correct you

I dreamt ’bout California

last night,

do dreams have wings,

I dreamt ’bout California

where I once was

a brief fleeting instant

actually a month

actually

less than that

time is all

in the present

for me

do dogs know of time

I wonder

does it matter

I wonder

for an urban hound

who does not have a watch

but watches

who guards the yard

from two dollar prowlers

California was like a fondue

for me

My ex-wife made fon dues

and I tried to tell her

once in a while was okay

but no one

had fon dues daily

as a

base

meal

I tried to tell her things

she, like I,

never listened

to anyone else’s dream

This Poem

went from dogs to California

to an ex-wife to

politically in correct food

Like fon due

this Poem had no substance

In the Marxist Poetry workshop

It would be marked bourgeious

and scattered

which it is

but, at least,

this was not a Poem

a bout you
