The Fire # 2-To John Brodsky

The Fire #2

To John Brodsky

(Note; In the process of rereading The Old Testament)

The older I get
the older I get
The more I remember about things I can’t change
places and faces
places and faces
I can’t go back to
I can’t return to-

You have known me for twenty and five of those years
First from your Castle, now more modest but not less joyous
how do we approach age without expired dreams
how do we create more words to remember
more worlds to remember

As one more year
and yet another
I do not fear the sound of age
I find I have time and days
when I can choose what to do
and if nothing is the choice
I can do a little of that, a smidgen, a bissel

I was not on Facebook today, nor Linked-In, nor twitter
Are the Computer Gods angry with me
Will thunder come out while I sit here
a fire from the computer screen
or are these Gods as false as Baal
