How much do I remember
How much do I think
I remember
How much is lost in the time
it takes to
not
write
This resembles a forest
which I remember
from when I resembled a boy
and wanted to feel all the wild things
that the forest held
This was 1959
and I had no idea then
what wild was
10 years later
we
all
would
This resembles a forest
Where I met deer and men
the deer
never approached me
not in that way
This resembles the forest
I used to find myself in
when I wanted to find myself
when I wanted to lose myself
when I wanted to say something
but didn’t know what
When I was a boy and unformed
and wondered who my real parents were
like most boys did
and wondered just how famous I’d become
like most boys do
and wondered how long I’d live
and if the journey
or the destination
was most
of
importance
Is this remembering the art?
