Then they stopped
Last night
I heard
moaning noises
seeming to come
seeming to come
from the
outside,
from the outside,
the kind of
noise report that
in the tidy town of Swarthmore
I would ventured out to see have
or thought to
or thought to
in South Philly
on the other knife hand
one would wonder
but not wander
Here, in deepest Montreal
(as opposed to Deppest Montreal)
Here, it interrupted my dreams
punctuated my
sleep
dotted my repose
dotted my repose
with what? Worry or
worry or sorrow or
or just make the moaning stop
was it French then?
did that matter?
is there a language barrier
to compassion
to pain
Last night I heard moaning noises
then they stopped

Every twenty years
Every twenty years
we go to
Montreal
Next time
I must learn French
How long
before I learn new words
How long
before the parts of me
that can still bloom
are allowed to
Would a Frenchman in Swarthmore
give the same excuse
would he dare
I am trying to learn German
before Hamburg in October
revised 5-30-12
End of a Poem from which
the beginning is inexcusable
and besides which I lost it
4) I am sitting here
wondering
how long
I wait
and wait
knowing
nothing
5) Ideas come and flicker
like snippets of lost silent films
from geniuses of that time
forgot now
like the rock and roll goddesses
music untracked
from 8 track tapes
6) I am caught
in the falling crevices
of an ancient art form
that only matters
to some few of us
too foolish to know
too foolish to know
we are dreamers
we are dreamers
we are past
7) I write in notebooks
trying to remember
what I lost
in the last broken word processor
8) Right now at this instant
Right now at this instant
I am saving by computer
though I do not trust it
I do not know it
Will I ever Blog
9) As I said at the beginning
……… well that wasn’t very important
as we swim into the sky
leaving words to drop onto rooftops
and rooftops and rooftops
English ones in Montreal
French ones in Philly
German and Russian in Swarthmore…
1) I will tell you again
I write for the ages!
or only for myself
whichever it is
I continue to write
without the knowledge to quit!
